Ο Παναγιώτης Γιαβρίμης αποφοίτησε από την Παιδαγωγική Ακαδημία Μυτιλήνης. Φοίτησε στο ΜΔΔΕ (Ειδική Αγωγή) και είναι κάτοχος μεταπτυχιακού Σχολικής Ψυχολογίας (Τμ. Φ.Π.Ψ., ΕΚΠΑ), μεταπτυχιακού σχετικό με την τοπική ανάπτυξη και έρευνα (Τμ Κοινωνιολογίας, Παν. Αιγαίου) κα διδακτορικού του Τμήματος ΦΠΨ του ΕΚΠΑ. Διορίστηκε ως δάσκαλος το 1987 και από το 2003 έως το 2009 διετέλεσε Σχολικός Σύμβουλος ΠΕ, Υποδ/ντής του Π.Ε.Κ. Μυτιλήνης, Προϊστάμενος Παιδαγωγικής Επιστημονικής Καθοδήγησης στην Περιφέρεια του Β. Αιγαίου, Υπ. Σχολών Γονέων στο Ν. Λέσβου και δίδαξε βάσει του ΠΔ 407/80 στο Παν/μιο Αιγαίου. Τον Μάιο του 2009 διορίστηκε ως Λέκτορας στο Τμήμα Κοινωνιολογίας του Πανεπιστημίου Αιγαίου. Σήμερα είναι Επίκουρος καθηγητής με γνωστικό αντικείμενο “Κοινωνιολογία της Εκπαίδευσης και Εκπαιδευτική Έρευνα”. Από το 1997 μέχρι και σήμερα συμμετέχει ενεργά σε επιμορφωτικές, παρεμβατικές και ερευνητικές δραστηριότητες. Έχει δημοσιεύσει 10 βιβλία και εργασίες σε ελληνικά και διεθνή περιοδικά, σε πρακτικά συνεδρίων και συλλογικούς τόμους. Τα επιστημονικά του ενδιαφέροντα επικεντρώνονται στο πλαίσιο της Κοινωνιολογίας της Εκπαίδευσης και αφορούν τις εκπαιδευτικές ανισότητες, τις ΤΠΕ, τη δια βίου εκπαίδευση, την ειδική αγωγή, την εκπαιδευτική πολιτική και έρευνα και τη διδακτική της Κοινωνιολογίας.
